Introduction

The files app provides file storage and document collaboration to your application. It contains features such as document previews, versioning, online editing, comments, and more.

Code

To create a new files app from the client, you use the Object definifion syntax to create it. You need to specify key, type and optionally the container where to place it and a name.

Features

File storage 

You can upload any files, documents, images, etc, and create a folder structure in the files app. Each file app has its own scope and the files are accessible for reference in other apps within the same space. Drag'n'drop of files is fully supported.

Integrated cloud storage 

Files from cloud services such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Box, and DropBox can seamlessly be integrated so you get a consolidated place to access files from various cloud sources.

File previews 

The files app has support for preview of 100+ file formats including pdfs, docs, spreadsheets, and presentations. It features a pdf/doc previewer and an enhanced image previewer.

Note editor 

There is an integrated doc editor for notes which supports, rich text formatting, tables, images, links, and mentions. It also supports comments and file attachments.

Versioning 

All files stored in the files app have automatic versioning. So if you replace a file or edit a note or document, a new version will be saved. You can view all versions of a file and go back to a specific version.

Open in Office 

When adding Office 365 files from Word, Excel, or Powerpoint, you can open and edit them in Office on your computer directly from the files app. Then you save it back directly to the files app. As with everything else, the file is versioned.

Google Integration 

You can create and edit Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides directly in the Files app. These files are stored in Google Drive and offer rich preview within Weavy and links to the Google editors for editing.

You may simply link to any file in the Files app in posts, comments, and notes within the space. Triggering a quick link is done by simply typing [ followed by a file name search as you type in a post, comment, or note.
